History is the study of the past. Mostly on important events, people or ideas, historians don't really focus on what Leonardo Da Vince ate for breakfast one morning. History can definitely teach us more about ourselves meaning, our cultures, our identity and about our ancestors. One very common quote is "Thats history" or " Your history" depends on the circumstance but usually it would mean it was a long time ago or if you make a wrong move your going to forgotten or not seen for a while. History helps us seen common trends and have better understandings to problems today and in the future.
So why do we study history?
Because it can help us learn about cultures, what life was like "Back in the day"and to find out how we evolved. History can change "evidence" or interpretations. History allows us to understand the present. For example one very important event was the years when blacks were treated unequally to everyone else because of many famous people (Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks) who fought for black people's rights and therefor today blacks are treated more equally then before.
History gives us more knowledge and definitely more stories to tell around the fire.
